In Yaoundé, transport hubs do more than move people: they also attract economic activities. This study examines this phenomenon through the concept of “mobile artisanal marginalities,” referring to craft-based activities linked to transport flows and located in spaces with limited institutional oversight. The survey covered 183 sites across 62 neighborhoods, with 72 used for quantitative analysis. The results show a strong association between the number of motorcycle taxis and commercial diversity (R = 0.916), while collective taxis are mainly associated with the commercial valorization of places (R = 0.945). The study thus reveals a local production of urban centralities, driven by hybrid governance combining institutional regulation, tolerance, and self-organization. The denser the traffic, the more mobile craftsmanship develops, turning each site into a genuine economic hub.
